The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) Abuja & District Society has formally concluded its 34th Annual General Meeting (AGM), ratifying the election of the 16th Executive Committee and unveiling a comprehensive three-year strategic roadmap for institutional growth, digital modernization, and enhanced member welfare.
Consolidating Three Decades of Stewardship
Speaking during the formal investiture, the newly elected District Chairman emphasized that the new leadership will build upon the exemplary foundation laid by past chairmen since the district's founding in 1991. The primary strategic pillars include expanding continuous professional development through hybrid masterclasses, deepening engagement with public sector finance leaders, and operationalizing modern welfare initiatives for members in good standing.
"Our duty as chartered accountants in the nation's capital is not merely statutory compliance, but active participation in shaping sound macroeconomic policies, fiscal transparency, and ethical governance across both public institutions and the private sector."
Key Priorities for the 2026–2029 Administration
The approved three-year blueprint prioritizes several flagship deliverables:
- Digital District Hub: Seamless online renewals, automated receipt issuance, and instant verification of MCPE credit hours via the newly upgraded membership portal.
- Public Sector Technical Clinics: Regular advisory sessions with municipal and federal ministries on IFRS, IPSAS, and digital audit automation.
- Young Professionals & Trainees Incubator: Mentorship, examination clinics, and career placements for graduate trainees and student members.
- District Secretariat Infrastructure: Modernization of executive meeting suites, library archives, and digital media production facilities.
The executive committee expressed sincere appreciation to all delegates, past chairmen, and electoral committee members for a peaceful, transparent, and dignified democratic transition.
